Use this craft to teach and practice coping strategies for anxiety, anger, stress, depression, and other strong emotions. Kids and young adults will identify their top coping strategies and create their own individualized coping strategies keys that they can refer back to, as needed.

Coping strategies keys include: listen to music, take deep breaths, take a walk, practice yoga, take a time out, use positive self-talk, slowly count to ten, draw or color, write in a journal, chew gum, hyperfocus on an object, use an I-statement, visualize a stop sign, compliment yourself, and many more. Blank keys are included so students can make individualized keys for special coping strategies. This resource also includes a list of 100 unique coping strategies for kids and young adults to choose from.

How to Use
First, students will read a worksheet that explains coping strategies. Then, students will view a list of coping strategies and highlight which strategies would be best for them. Since each student is different, kids and young adults will have their own personalized set of coping strategies. After highlighting, kids will list out their top 10 coping strategies. Then, they will cut out the corresponding keys and put them on a key ring. An easy-cut version is available for students who struggle with fine motor skills.

Best of all, kids can keep their Coping Strategies Keys to Success for times when they need extra support. They can use it to help them pick a coping strategy when they are feeling anxious, stressed, sad, or angry.
