Need a quick activity before Christmas break? Use these fun holiday worksheets appropriate for K-1.
First, define coping skills: ways to deal with strong feelings, solve problems, and calm down.
What are some strong or big feelings? (sadness, anger, worry, fear, etc.)
Ask for student volunteers to talk about a time they used a coping skill and how they were feeling.
Ask for students to think about a person, place, or thing that helps them calm down. Have them turn and share with the person sitting next to them.
Give students ornament coloring sheet and instruct them to draw or color a picture of the people, places, or things that help them calm down. Finish the sentence at the bottom of the page – “I feel calm when…” (I play with my friends. I hug my mom. I read a book.)
Give students Christmas tree coloring activity and read each numbered coping skill out loud. Instruct students to color in the ones they have used before or want to try.
