The first 10 Amendments to the United States Constitution are called the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights gives us certain freedoms that are the foundation of our democracy. This packet is meant for guided instruction to teach the meaning of these Core Democratic Values and beliefs. There are 11 values in this packet: Life, Liberty, Common Good, Justice, Popular Sovereignty, Pursuit of Happiness, Patriotism, Equality, Diversity, Truth, and Rule of Law. Each value is in a circle map that is divided using a Frayer's Model. Guide the students in defining the values in their own words and coming up with real life examples of these values.
