This bundle contains many approaches to teaching children to speak and write about the elements of music. My bundle includes a "Sentence Starter" Grid for open discussion or writing prompts; "T-Chart" for peers to compare how they describe what they hear; "Home-School Connection" letter for the T-Chart to be used interactively outside of the classroom; "Open Response" formal assessment aligned to the minimum Core Music Standard for Responding to Music in grade 3; and an accompanying scoring rubric. I keep the sentence starters in 25 pocket protectors with the Opinion sentence starters on the other so they are ready to go for my lesson.
I hope this bundle makes it efficient for you to incorporate writing across the curriculum!
If you do find these activities helpful for encouraging students to listen and speak about music, then please take the time to rate the flexibility of the activities. Thank you!
