Product Description
Use these bookmarks to immerse your 3rd graders in vocabulary. Here are 787 words that every third grade student should know, from aboard to wouldn’t. Each page has 5 bookmarks with the same word, so you can quickly copy enough pages for your class to focus on one word. Other uses include, but aren’t limited to: word sorts, word walls, flash cards, Daily 5 centers, games. The possibilities are endless!

How do you know which words your students or readers are capable of reading?
First as a textbook editor, then as a teacher, I relied on the Steck-Vaughn EDL Core Vocabulary book to inform me of the appropriate words that students should know at each grade level.
The Steck-Vaughn EDL Core Vocabulary: Student Workbook is a trusted, research-based resource for grade-level vocabulary in the subjects of Reading, Math, and Science.
Some ways that I used the book:
1. Finding synonyms that work for the grade level. For example, working on a 3rd grade book, is it okay to use the word “aboard”? Would a 3rd grader know that word?
2. Developing a list of words to review with my students. Research shows that vocabulary should be taught both in context and through repeated exposure. I developed these bookmarks that can also be used as flash cards; displayed on a word wall; in a game (i.e. Around the World); integrated in a literacy center.
