Want, I, Like, and Not are high frequency words that allows a person to communicate for a variety of purposes.
Using these interactive books across the week increases participation opportunities and highlights/repeatedly uses the new word so that anyone watching knows the targeted word. These activities are intended to be used to supplement core word lessons. They are also meant to be used to provide structure for teachers/school staff to increase generalization of target core words in the classroom.
Introduce the new word at the beginning of the week. Preferably, the introduction is made during a whole-group push-in service. After the activity, instruct the teacher
and staff to spend 5-10 minutes per day reviewing the same lesson for the rest of the week.
