This activity requires students to conduct a "silent seminar," navigating through the classroom to react to key quotations from The Road. Rather than the traditional Socratic approach, students write short responses to quotations and then react to their peers' responses to other quotations. Students are encouraged to write about literary devices, stylistic devices, theme, worldly connections, and connections to other quotations from the handout. This assignment can easily then turn into a full class discussion and a writing assignment. The activity directions are included on the handout.
