Cornell Style Notes/Art Activity - Latin Am. Revolutions and the Monroe Doctrine

Cornell Style Notes/Art Activity - Latin Am. Revolutions and the Monroe Doctrine
Product Description
This is my PowerPoint “Latin American Revolutions and the Monroe Doctrine”
This 14 Slide PowerPoint broadly covers Revolutions in Latin America (Padre Hidalgo & Simon Bolivar), Monroe’s election and the Monroe Doctrine. This lesson also contains a 10 minute Artist Series break during which the students sketch a key figure in History. The class votes to decide whether to sketch Padre Miguel Hidalgo, Simon Bolivar, or James Monroe. My Hispanic students often show more interest in this lesson with its ties to the history of Mexico and other Latin American countries. Students with artistic talent also enjoy showing their skills and tend to retain more information about the key figures in history if they have sketched them out. The lesson teaches students how to lay out their paper and requires them to write essential questions for each of the 4 sections of the notes (A-D), along with a final step to do on their own time. This PowerPoint combines note taking skills, art, and historical concepts in a quick 35 to 45 minute lesson.
