The activity is desinged to be done with students working out the cost of their name, the focus is on money and addition, in particular setting out vertical addition problems correctly.
Students list their name and then use the table to work out the cost of their name. There is an easier and harder sheet depending on the students abilities. Students would set it out vertically in their book or on a piece of paper and then double check afterwards on a calculator. Students could just do their first name or do their first, middle and last name. Early finishers could do other members of their family to see who has the most expensive name in their family.
