Product Description
The focus question of this 45-50 minute lesson is "How did the cotton gin lead to growing sectionalism in America?"

- Do Now is a review from Unit 1 about the different economies in the North and South

- Students analyze 5 documents and answer inference questions (not just simple recall)

- The Exit Ticket has a NYS Regents multiple choice question and a place to answer the focus question using the documents (I ask for at least 2)

- I included tips and links to videos that will show students how the cotton gin worked

I use this with my 11th graders in Brooklyn, the students are extremely engaged with this lesson and always leave with excellent Exit Ticket responses. Please rate this and let me and others know how it worked in your classroom!!
