Kids will have fun with these Countdown Calendars. They are easy to make and they will help children manage the days until Christmas.
The calendar can be completed individually, during centers, in small groups, or with the entire class. They also can be completed at home with young children.
Consider hanging the calendars in your classroom until the holiday break and then sending them home. This is a great way to keep the holiday excitement under control and avoid the constant asking of “how many days until Christmas?”.
There are four calendars that are provided both in color and black and white for a total of eight. Teaching Tips are also provided.
Kids can use markers or crayons to color the black and white calendars. They can cut out the figures and punch a hole at the top. A ribbon can be tied at the top of the calendar to hang it.
Add a little sparkle to the calendars by gluing on glitter. Create a funny face on the snowman and Santa Claus by gluing wiggly eyes to the face.
White or colored pom-poms, cotton balls, or styrofoam peanuts can be glued on the figures, one for each day, to countdown the days, December 1 until the 24th.
