Are your students working on subtraction? Here is a Count and Write the room game that works on subtraction skills from 10. This is a differentiated activity, in that there are 3 varying levels to record student work.
Your students will be counting cute BUGS! and subtracting the "crossed out" items. Since this is a cross-curricular game, students will also write the vocabulary! The added bonus is that the game is meant to be posted around the room, so students get up and move to "hunt" for the addition cards.
I created two sets of the same game, one version being an “ink saving” set. Choose the set you want to use. Each set has 3 pages with a total of 12 cards. Print, laminate and cut the picture pages into quarters; then post around the room. There are 3 different student recording sheets. Choose the level that is right for your students. Make copies of the student recording sheets. Students count, then subtract the crossed out quantities, then either write the answer (easier recording sheet) or the whole equation (more difficult recording sheet). On the longer blank, students write the word of the item counted. The last recording sheet has students writing the whole equation and representing the equation on a number line.

for an activity about sorting animals. This activity uses real animal photographs and sorting cards to sort animals by body covering, number of legs, body parts, and other ways.
