Write the room is one of my students’ favorite centers, so naturally I decided to create Count the Room...it's just like Write the Room, but with a math twist! They love having the chance to walk around searching for the word cards I have “hidden” around the room. If you are new to having this center in your room, here is how it works. All you need to do to get started is copy the cards you want to use on card stock, cut them apart, laminate, and stick them around the room. Students then take a clipboard and the accompanying recording sheet and count the number of objects on each card. Then, they write down the number next to the corresponding picture on the page. Simple and a big hit! This pack has two sections: a content area section (includes math, social studies, and science cards) and a seasonal section. Each theme has approximately eight word cards to go with it and each card has between 1-10 objects for students to count.
Themes included are:
Butterfly Life Cycle
Flower Life Cycle
This pairs nicely with my Write the Room All Year Long pack, found here:
