This is a simple, one page handout that tackles 'what if' questions about history (i.e. counterfactual history). Students are asked to use higher level thinking skills to questions such as: What if 9/11 did not occur? How would that change the world we live in? What if Franz Ferdinand was not assassinated? How would that have changed WW1? The handout explains what counterfactual history is, and sets up thinking scenarios in chart form, so teachers can choose to keep the scenarios, or enter some of their own.
