Learning Objective

Students will count a set of objects up to 12 and demonstrate that the last number said tells the number of objects in the set.

Building a foundation in number sense helps students be successful with basic math skills. This clip card and book set will give students practice recognizing the quantity of a small group of objects. This crayons themed center would be great to use for back to school.

Is this center easy to prepare?

Yes, you just need one set of clip cards for your entire class. I suggest printing one book for each student.

To prepare the cards, all you need to do is print and cut them out. Then add your favorite clips and it's ready to go! To increase the durability of your clip cards, I suggest printing on card stock and laminating. To make the books simply cut, stack, and staple!

Can this be differentiated?

Yes, if your students are not counting to 12 yet, you can remove cards from the center and pages from the book. The last page of the book is designed so that it can be placed at the end, regardless of what number students are counting to.

Is there an ink-saving option?

The clip cards can printed in color or black and white. The book is only available in black and white.

Do you have any other activities for this skill?

Yes, you can find them in the counting custom category in my store.
