Product Description
This interactive and engaging lesson is a complete resource to introduce your students to identifying and counting coins. It is important for students to master these concepts in order to improve their math knowledge and ensure success in the future.

One part of this lesson is a PowerPoint presentation to be played as a slideshow for your students. There are several pages of activities and questions to keep students engaged and participating in the lesson. Because there are questions and answers on multiple slides, this PowerPoint has been equipped with clickable animations so that the answers are not shown right after the questions are asked.

For example: With one click of the mouse, the question is displayed. The students have as much time to think of answers and responses as necessary. With another click of the mouse, the answer is revealed underneath the question.

This is a great way to have students involved in their learning, and it is also a quick and easy assessment as you progress through the lesson.

Included in this packet:
• an objective of what students will be learning
• a one page and larger printable anchor chart of the coins, their names, and how much they are worth
• a coin song to help students remember the coins and how much they are worth
• slides explaining the penny with examples
• slides explaining the nickel with examples
• slides explaining the dime with examples

• a data collection sheet for the "Count and Walk" activity
• an extension of the "Count and Walk" activity where students see which items in a store they can buy with the money they counted
• a checkpoint for understanding to assess student knowledge acquisition
• 4 leveled worksheets (front and back) for a review of identifying and counting coins (The more complex worksheet has 4 stars, then 3, then 2, and 1 for the simplest. These can be used for different groups of students or as a way to start simpler and build students' skills until they can all solve the more complex problems.)
• an exit ticket to assess mastery of the skill
