Simply provide each group of students (groups of 2+) with a game board, a pencil, a paper clip, and some coins. They'll take turns spinning the spinner and collecting coins to add to their pile. This gives students valuable practice in counting coins up to one dollar as they add on to what they already have. The first student to reach $1.00 (or 100 cents) is the winner!
In my second grade classroom, I use this activity as a math center to reinforce coin concepts. Students enjoy it so much that they've been known to play during indoor recess!
