This products supports students knoweldge and flexibility with numbers. Cut tens frams apart and place on a round hook. Use the tens frames as warm-up activities to get students brains warmed-up.
Step 1: Ask students: How many dots are there? How do you know there are that many?
Step 2: Show one tens frame to the students for 3-5 seconds.
Step 3: Cover the tens frame again. Give students 3-5 seconds longer to envision the dots on the tens frame and give them time to count.
Step 4: Share out 2-3 different ways students counted the dots. Students might use stems such as:
- "I noticed..."
- "I counted by 2s..."
- "I counted _____, then _____."
