Perfect for morning work tubs, early finishers, or busy boxes these Counting Fine Motor Task Boxes for numbers 1-10 target math development while allowing students to strengthen their fine motor skills.
This set includes ideas and materials for 10 counting fine motor task boxes. These simple activities are designed to promote the development of math concepts while allowing students to strengthen their fine motor skills. Simple enough to be completed independently, these task boxes can be used in the mornings when children first come to school, as a quiet break later in the day, or by individual students as they finish their other work. Each task includes a printable label, picture directions, and other materials (such as work mats or matching cards). Each activity requires the inclusion of other classroom items such as manipulatives or basic classroom supplies. Please see the included materials list. All activities are sized to fit into a standard plastic pencil box.
Each of the 10 included fine motor counting tasks is designed to fit into a standard plastic pencil box. This allows for easy storage and organization. To prepare, print and laminate the activity label and instructions as well as the printable activity materials. Tape the activity label to the outside of the box and the illustrated instruction card inside the lid. Place all listed materials inside the box.
Please note that pencil boxes vary slightly in size. To avoid wasting ink and paper, print a single page of letter matching cards. If they are a bit too big for your boxes, you can adjust the print size down to 95% (custom scale) in Adobe Acrobat.
These boxes can be used alone or as supplements to other task boxes:
