For the 2013-2014 upcoming school year I have planned an entire “Under the Sea” theme for my classroom. This summer I am currently working on classroom decorations, job charts, cubby labels, bin labels, word wall images, and literacy, science, and math activities to incorporate the “Under the Sea” theme.
Counting Fish uses the sight words I, see, numerals and number words. The book is perfect for early readers and provides repetition in the sentence structure to encourage independent reading. Also the students can practice meaningful counting.
Directions: I suggest all pages are printed on card stock and laminated for durability. You can either comb-bind the pages into a book or use a three-hole punch and use a 3-prong plastic folder to create the book. If laminating is an issue another alternative is using clear plastic sheet protectors and placing them in a 3-prong plastic folder or 1/2” 3-ring binder.
