This is a great math addition to your Valentine's Day themed unit. A couple different activities can be found in the is one file. With the first activity, you can copy each of the doggies holding hearts on different color paper or color them different colors (this comes in a color version and B&W). Hang the dogs and hearts up around the room. Have students count the hearts, record the number on the record sheet, and color them the color you had them colored. For example the dog is holding 14 hearts which are purple so students write the number 14 on their recording sheet and color it purple whereas the dog is holding 18 pink hearts so students would write 18 and color it pink. Another great way to use this activity is to have students match the number of hearts to the number words. Print on card stock and laminate for durability. This activity comes with a recording sheet for the counting hearts around the room activity! A fun way to get your students up, moving, talking with one another, and learning!
