The “counting on” strategy is an important addition strategy primary students use. The Counting On with Spring Puzzles is a great small group or math center to practice this strategy.
Simply print and laminate. The activity cards are in both color or BW. Then set out some play dough. Students choose a card. They read the number in the center of the flower. Then they add on play dough petals as they count on to 10 and write the numbers with a dry eraser marker on the card. Students can also record their answers on two different recording sheets, so that teachers can evaluate students’ understanding of the strategy later.
**Please note: This product is also available in the Counting On Addition Strategy Activities BUNDLE.
