This download features 12 syllable cards (1-3 syllables) and a recording mat for Sept-May. A total of 9 monthly mats and 108 different syllable cards to use over the course of the school year. The format is consistent for students to master counting syllables and gain long term success at working independently when using this center!
*Updated On 2/23/2018:
- 9 Assessment Cut-able Worksheets that Match Each Monthly Set (1 Per Month)
- 1 (Non-Seasonal) Writing Mat
How I plan on Using in my Classroom during ELAR Centers:
(Same format each Month to Build Stamina)
Week 1: Syllable Cards & Recording Mats - use w/ sensory counters
Week 2: Syllable Cards & Recording Mats - use w/ sensory counters
Week 3: Syllable Cards & Writing Word Mats
Week 4: Assessment Worksheet for I.P.
*Repeat each month with new monthly set
Make it hands on:
Have your students use "sensory" style squish balls, cubes, mini erasers, legos, or anything small to help them count syllables and record their answers!! Have them old three pieces in their hand, say the word, and then break it into syllables! I always tell my kiddos, after you get your answer "re-load" your palm with tools and start again! Instead of making a worksheet, save your paper and print onto colored paper and put it in a sleeve! Pair with a dry erase marker and let your students practice again and again to gain syllable fluency!
Enjoy and please leave feedback, thanks!
