Students will play this game to help them master their understanding of
counting numbers 1 – 20.
The students must analyze all three sides of their triangle and identify what
number is represented on each side.
Start with one game triangle in the center of the play area. The start piece
will have 3 representations on it as well. Each student is looking at the same
time to see if they have a triangle that has the same amount on one of their
sides BUT it must be represented in a different way. Triangle sides may touch IF
they equal the same thing but are shown in a different format. As soon as a
student finds a match they will lay their triangle card down and start to look for
more matches on another triangle card. Students don’t take turns. All
students must watch the growing game center all the time and constantly be
on the lookout for a matching card. Students must stay alert since the game is
constantly growing and changing. As soon as a student lays down one triangle
they may draw a new card off of the draw pile. The game continues until
none of the cards remain or can be played. Each game will be different
since students can play different cards to make a match. The
card placement options allow for many correct solutions.
