Each student takes a handful of cubes, places it on their counting
board. They then make up a story about what their cubes are, and what
they are doing. For example, counting board scene "park", I have 12 ducks
at my park. This helps them practice their one-to-one counting. They can also use two seperate colors of cubes, or types of manipulatives and make
up a number sentence story. I have 5 ducks in the pond, and 6 frogs in the grass. There are 11 ducks and frogs all together. The fun backgrounds make for great counting boards that keep students entertained and engaged while learning!
