This counting atoms and identifying elements worksheet will help your students identify elements represented in a molecule and aid students in understanding the number of atoms present.
Introductory reading passage explains coefficients and subscripts with lots of examples. Full teacher key is included. I’ve also included a QR code to a YouTube video that I use as a supplement or introduction to the lesson. I also have my students paste the visual example and key vocab into their interactive notebooks for future reference. I use this worksheet as a key tool to help my students master Texas TEKS 6.5A, 6.5C, and 8.5D.
Approximately one class period in length (as a point of reference, I teach a 50-minute class). I generally use the YouTube video as an introduction and my students complete the full worksheet in one class period. Created by Mister Science.
If you’re teaching a unit covering the periodic table your students may enjoy my very popular space / mystery themed lab covering the periodic table, groups, periods, and atomic numbers. CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAIL
