This is a challenge I use in my classroom - I've used it in Kindergarten and First Grade, and it could be adapted and used for 2nd grade.
The students have to count by 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s, and 25s individually to earn a sticker to pass off each number on their shooting star. When they have passed all of them off they earn a shooting star award and prize (mine contain starbursts, glowing stars, star stickers, etc.) It's a great way to get kids motivated to learn to count.
Check out my blog tangledwithteaching.blogspot.com for pictures and a description of how I use it in my classroom. You can also download a free color-coded hundred chart that makes counting easy and visual.
