To use a variety of reference sources to learn about a country of the world.
2 class periods
This lesson can be used to study almost any nation of the world. Students should have access to encyclopedias, almanacs, and atlases. Their textbook and other available reference materials may also be helpful.
Each class member will work with an encyclopedia that has an article on a country they want to study. World Book is especially recommended.
As they complete the study guide, students will learn about their chosen country's geography, size, location, agriculture, cities, manufactured goods, official language, government, and more. To conclude the lesson, they will also draw an outline map of the country and make a sketch of its flag.
The study guide can be used several times during the school year. It can also be given to students who want to do an extra credit assignment.
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions included.
