Looking for a way to delve deeper into multicultural music? This first set in a series is co-authored by my friend Katie Minneci and I, and celebrates the music of Brazil! This set can be used as a unit to celebrate Brazil during any month you want, or can be used throughout the year, and includes:
*A bulletin board set,
including a visual showing where Brazil is on a world map, fun facts about Brazil, and details about soccer, the tamborim, street art, and the samba. Includes an alternate page that says “Celebrating Brazil,” which you can use if you aren’t studying Brazil during a specific month.
*A Powerpoint about instruments from Brazil,
with fast facts about Brazil, and information and links for the berimbau, the cavaquinho, the pandeiro, and the cuica. There are links to YouTube videos included, showcasing each instrument. This is great for studying world instruments!
*Songs from Brazil:
Includes notation, any game directions, notes, and analysis for the songs “O ba ba” and “Bambu”.
: Includes a movement activity for grades K-2, a movement activity for grades 3-5, lesson ideas for teaching about the dance “Sambo No Pe,” picture book suggestions, and more!
