This project was inspired by the gorgeous picture book Cow by Milachy Doyle and Angelo Rinaldi. My kids really enjoy this book! It’s not too long, and it has beautifully realistic paintings of a cow as she moves from the barn to the field.
After we draw the cow together, we brainstorm ideas for the background. Some of the children paint a realistic looking cow, and others go more in a fantasy direction. Either way, I encourage them to make their cows and backgrounds unique.
