    Description

Halloween Math made easy? Let me say that I am NOT a crafty teacher! I want to be, but I have a hard time with this. I made these craftivities for two reasons: ONE- to help my students get the practice they need with word problems. TWO- so we had something fun and crafty to hand outside of our classroom to make it look as if I were crafty! :)

Included in this bundle are 14 holiday craftivities (2 bonus craftivities). Each one of the activities includes 5-8 word problems. Students are asked to solve the word problems, color and cut out the pieces, and then glue the pieces together to make a long strip. Once put together properly, it looks as if the character is holding the word problems the students solved. Take a look at the pictures to fully understand how this looks.

There are 4 versions included of each activity to differentiate for your students or to use in different grade levels.

Included right now are the following craftivities:

*Halloween Math: Multi-Step Word Problem Craftivity for Grades 2-5

*All About Me Alien Craftivity: Print and Go Activity for the First Day of School

Generate two numerical patterns using two given rules. Identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms. Form ordered pairs consisting of corresponding terms from the two patterns, and graph the ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 0, and given the rule “Add 6” and the starting number 0, generate terms in the resulting sequences, and observe that the terms in one sequence are twice the corresponding terms in the other sequence. Explain informally why this is so.
Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.
Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison.
