This is for a quick mini-lesson on "good craftsmanship" for drawing projects. I have used this with middle school and high school students in an attempt to improve the quality of their finished drawings. I've even had high school students try to turn-in work that was colored like "scribble scrabble". I try to explain to students that even though not everyone has amazing, incredible drawing skills...everyone has the ability to make their artwork look nicer by having good craftsmanship.
As a class, we define "craftsmanship" as "the quality of work shown in something made by hand". Students write down this definition and then are provided with examples of good and poor craftsmanship. Students are then instructed to follow the directions on the page to practice good craftsmanship using a pencil, colored pencils and markers.
