    Description

Integrate math and art to reinforce concepts in a new way! Using these Crafty Math First Grade Math Crafts is a way to practice and solidify core math concepts in a fun and engaging way! These fun art projects provide you with a unique way to reinforce kindergarten or first grade math concepts.

The finished projects are super cute, colorful, and make stunning bulletin displays - bonus! Best of all, they are super simple and very little prep!

Most of these projects are made with one or two pages of art templates, and where possible, pack contains several different versions to choose from. Where possible, I've also included a printable centers version to continue practicing after the lesson!

Projects involve colouring, cutting and gluing for engaging hands-on activities. Where possible, I have included printable review pages to further solidify concepts or use as assessment reviews.

These are so simple that they can even be used for your independent math centres!

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.
Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
    Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Fluently add and subtract within 5.
For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation.
