Students will look at 14 recipe cards, each with an original recipe and a scaled recipe. It is up to the students to determine whether the recipe has been scaled up, or scaled down, and to determine the scale factor. Great practice. Lots of fractions! Great right before or right after winter break (Christmas Cookies!)
How to use:
Print on paper or cardstock and hang the cards around the room
Give each student an answer template
Have students walk around the room to each card, completing the questions.
*You may want to tell the students to provide proof of the scale factor using two different ratios (this will eliminate students from finding the easy way out for items that originally only need 1 cup, 1 tsp, 1 egg, ect.)
