After Dr. Seuss week my class created their own Dr. Seuss creature and wrote their own books to go with it.
I had them think of 6 different areas animals could live.
They then brainstormed 4-6 animals for each area the animals could live in. Then we rolled two dice and picked an animal from each area rolled. (If they rolled a 1 and a 3 they would pick one ocean animal and one rainforest animal.) Students then combined different physical attributes to create a "new" Seuss Creature. They then filled out the first page of this sheet, then used that "planning" sheet to expand their writing to create a book. I will upload pictures of their work as examples soon.
