The creative lesson is designed to help students learn to write a story using pictures to help formulate ideas. The students will first look at a picture, interpret for themselves what is happening in that picture, use prediction skills to determine what will happen next, and then write as if they were the author telling a story. This is an incredible effective lesson helping students understand the difference of describing a picture and telling a story. This lesson can be used in any grade level from the first grade classroom through a high school honors class. I have personally used this lesson for the first thru twelfth grades and in a third grade gifted room. This lesson usually produces 100% student engagement. The teacher’s role will be as a facilitator.
