The year is 1787 and your students have been hired as artisans to create currency that reflects the meaning of the Preamble. First, students will analyze the six phrases of the Preamble which represent the goals and responsibilities of government. Then, students will examine the current U.S. currency. Finally, students will design currency to represent the Preamble. This is a great project where students can work individually or with a partner to incorporate historical evidence and creativity. The project includes a combination of writing, designs and illustrations.
