So I dont know about all of you, but for many years I busted my butt to buy and collect all the materials I needed to make the adorable handprint calendars for parent/guardian gifts.
After buying and collecting all the paper, paint, paintbrushes, googly eyes, glitter ect ect I was already exhausted.
Then i had to find time to fit the calendar creating in between my teaching. It was an extreme challenge. I had to set up a paint area with all the materials needed for that specific hand print. I had to help each individual student with their hand because you want the outcome to be nice and neat. I had to allow students to go clean up their hands afterward that led to a disaster in the bathrooms with paint all over the floor and walls. I then had to find a place to put each individual hand print to dry, and then I had to clean up the entire mess just to do it all over again for the next hand print. It was exhausting and became quite a frustrating process for me. The outcome was adorable and I am sure the parents loved it, but I just got to a point where i couldnt do it anymore.
Soooo I decided to try and come up with an easier option for a calendar gift.
This calendar allows the students to still use their creative artistic abilities but without all the MESS!!!
For this calendar, the students are given a theme with each month and they are to draw a picture of their own creation to go with it. They then have the added benefit of writing a detailed descriptive sentence to go along with the theme and the picture they draw. The only prep work for me is to print the pages and then bind them together once they are all completed!
I cant wait to show some finished examples in a blog post!!
