Early American colonists in the 13 colonies faced many challenges as they came to the New World and tried to settle in the wilderness. Sometimes it's hard to imagine what it would have been like for these early pioneers. Give students the opportunity to create their own colony by coming up with a plan of action! Where would they settle, what would they do first, how would they try to make money in the New World? These are all questions that can be discussed with students at the conclusion of the activity to help students understand the difficulties facing new colonists. Allows students to be creative and use their imaginations!
