One of my goals this year in my Math 7 courses was to get my students writing. I really wanted them to be able to understand and be able to explain what they were learning.
In this project, the students are creating their own Mini-Textbook. I supplied the paper needed to complete this activity. I bought white 8.5x11 inch paper and colored 8.5x11 inch cardstock. I gave each group 5-7 pieces of white paper and one cardstock paper. The students folded the papers in half (hamburger style!) and we created a mini-book.
I have supplied the directions page, as well as a rubric to grade the students. I had the students complete this activity as a group, but it could certainly be done individually.
The students had to make chapters on the following:
- One Step Equations
- Two Step Equations
- Multi-Step Equations
The students also had to create a table of contents, practice problems, dedication page, references, and an author page.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
