Engage your students and meet CCSS Speaking and Listening standards in this higher order thinking project! Students go through a process of evaluating why we celebrate certain holidays, and then create their own special day based on something they value. I created it with my gifted students in mind, but it really would work for your whole class. It came in handy to use this when we were approaching any holiday season. Many of my students celebrated things like Christmas and Easter, but many did not. Creating a resource like this really helped focus the children and channel their pre-holiday excitement without excluding anyone. I hope you’ll find it useful! Students present their holiday in a fun and creative way. Choices are offered so they can present their holiday to the class!
Here's what's included in this resource:
→ A list of Common Core State Standards
you’ll practice while completing the project

→ A Holiday Pennant to use for creating a visual display of holidays
→ An organizer to help them think through the planning of the holiday
→ A product planning page for students to get ideas about how they’d like to present their holiday to others (if you choose to allow for this)
