Tired of testing your students with multiple choice or matching? Then try this applied practice project. After teaching students basic geography skills or reviewing at the beginning of the year have them put their knowledge to the test. Students will create their own map incorporating all the basic components of a usable map. I have had Burgerville, Candyland, islands in the shape of student names, College initials, and so on. This is a creative way to test skills. The students have fun and you have beautiful artwork to hang in your classroom. This is a win-win project!
