PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students combine science, mathematics, art and design to bring the Periodic Table into three dimensions as they create unconventional models of common elements. After they read the introduction on page 1 and view an example of a model that another student created, they proceed to page 2 where the Challenge is defined, rules are established and step-by-step Instructions are given. An example with the element, sodium is provided. On pages 3 -6 students use graphic organizers to record their research, ideas, problems and solutions. On page 7 students use a rubric to evaluate their project. The rubric evaluates how well students followed the rules to show their knowledge, workmanship and creativity. When many students add their element projects to the 2-dimensional Periodic Table, a visual celebration of Mendeleyev's idea comes to life.
