Every year I am surprised by how the children struggle to understand that the calendar is a continuous counter. So, for Mother’s Day (or a Special Person Day), we make a calendar. It is always an eye opening experience for me, and the kids appear to have a much better understanding of the contiguous nature of the calendar when we finish. I use this for one ELA grade and one Math grade. A rubric is included to help with grading, along with the blank calendar and four pictures to choose from for each month.
