This project will take a while to complete, but the kids love it. They design a building for a college campus, and using toothpicks, construction paper and cereal boxes, they build the building. They measure the perimeter, and area of the rooms to determine how much molding, carpeting and wall board they need. After finishing the building, they design the campus. All the groups put their buildings together and have a college campus.
This project is a great application of area and perimeter.
