Students create their own community to demonstrate how geography affects people's lives and how people can affect geography. This creative activity lets students think about geography while connecting their interests.
Students have to come up with:
A community name
Bodies of Water
Rural, Urban, or Suburban
They use this information to explain how geography affects people and how people affect geography. They can also draw a picture of their community. This activity has really helped me see what students get the connections and allows them to be creative!
