This exciting activity is great for a one day lesson near the end of your ancient India unit! Students will have a chance to show their creativity through both writing and artwork. They will be pretending that the Post Office wants to have a new stamp to honor ancient India. They will have to think what would be a good way to honor ancient India, draw what they stamp should look like, and explain why this would be a great way to honor this ancient civilization! If students struggle to think of a way to honor this civilization, the print-out has examples of what they can draw.
This could also be used as a homework assignment if you wish. If students do not have a lot of experience seeing stamps the teacher can pull up stamp examples from any search engine. There are stamps for endangered species, holidays, Civil Rights Leaders, and other great causes. Show students any examples you would like! Your students are sure to enjoy this activity! My students loved it!
