Product Description
Utopia | Create a Utopia | Utopia Project | Dystopian Project

The concept of a utopia is one with applications in both the English and history classrooms. Many people have tried, and failed, to create utopias at various stages in human history. In many works of literature, including many of the current popular dystopian novels, an attempted utopia provides the backstory. By developing a utopia of their own, students will gain a better appreciation for the challenge and the risk behind such an endeavor.

The project has both individual and group components and is designed in three parts:
Part 1 has students work collaboratively to design some of the more basic and fundamental elements of their utopia.
Part 2 asks students to individually reflect on the notion of a utopia and to consider some quotes and lyrics relating to the notion.
Part 3 has students work as a group to create a presentation detailing more specific aspects and attributes of their created utopia.
