Given weather data over the past 6 months, students will create line graph showing the change in mean temperature over time. In my classroom, I give groups a large piece of graph paper (chart paper size) to construct their line graph; however, any size will suffice. After creating the line graph, students will interpret the graph by considering a series of questions. Students will need to understand the terms mean, median, and measure of variation (range) in order to successfully interpret the graph. This activity directly aligns with Virginia Math SOL 5.15 and 5.16.
