In this lesson teach will model, and students will then apply the strategy of formulating strong questions to help develop a deeper understanding of a text. The teacher will model the difference between a strong and weak question, the strong/weak resulted from each and also how to explain exactly why one type of question is more effective than the other. Students will apply this strategy to a non-fiction text. While working on the non-fiction text, there is also a review of previewing a text, caption/picture, authors purpose, fact and opinion, and central idea for students to complete. Also included is an activity on the homonym by, bye and buy.
